Hello again, Janel, and welcome back to planDisney!
Thanks for coming back to us with a very good question! I still remember how happy I was when I heard that the Disneyland Resort was re-opening after being closed for over a year back in 2021. The reservation system was a small price to pay to be able to enjoy the Happiest Place on Earth again and soon enough, it became second nature to make reservations every time I planned on visiting the Parks.
All guests are required to have both a valid
Theme Park Ticket and reservation to enter the Parks. In response to your question, according to the
Ticket Terms and Conditions, even if you have reservations for a particular day, Park admission is not guaranteed. Therefore, the Parks can close due to capacity and, even if you have a reservation, you will not be allowed entry until the capacity decreases. However, that is an extremely rare occasion that only occurs on the busiest of days, such as July 4th, Christmas, or New Year's Eve. And with the reservation system in place, it's much less likely that the Parks will reach capacity. To further put your mind at ease, this has not happened for several years and has not happened since re-opening after the pandemic. It's much more likely that you'll see reservations run out in the
Reservation Calendar than the Parks closing for capacity. If you're thinking about Park Hopping on a crowded day, my panelist friends
Tony and
Amanda have a great tip to check with a Cast Member before leaving the Park to make sure you'll be allowed entry into the other one!
Do you have the
Disneyland Mobile App downloaded to your smartphone device? Sometimes, guests will use the attraction wait times as a way to gauge how busy the Parks are at any given moment in time. I even know people who will check the App when they're missing the Parks! I must admit I'm guilty of that as well.
Janel, I hope that was informative for you. Please head on back if you have any more questions for us because you're always welcome at planDisney! Until next time!
Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!
