I have a reservation for Magic Kingdom on a night that they’re having MNSSHP, do they close the park early for that? And if we want to attend the party do we need a separate ticket ?

Welcome, Foolish Mortal! I mean Carlie, but I was doing my best Haunted Mansion voice. Welcome to planDisney!

Walt Disney World has a few specially ticketed events taking place throughout the year, and during the end of summer and early fall, Magic Kingdom Park transforms into a fall feast for the eyes. The park is host to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, taking place on select evenings.

On party days, the Magic Kingdom closes at 6 PM to regularly ticketed guests, and you do need a separate ticket for the party. The party officially begins at 7 PM and runs until midnight, with trick or treating, specially themed shows, a not so scary parade, and even Disney's Not So Spooky Spectacular - a fantastic nighttime show. Your favorite characters will be there in Halloween costumes, which makes for some great photo opportunities, and you may even see some characters you don't typically see.

I want to pass along a veteran tip to you, Carlie. My family uses the day of the party to sleep in, lounge at the pool, and take an afternoon nap. Although the actual party doesn't begin until 7 PM, your party tickets will let you into Magic Kingdom at 4 PM. Because tickets to the party are limited, we always find that we can do most of what we would do on a normal Magic Kingdom day during the hours of the party, plus the bonus hours they let you in early. We use this as our Magic Kingdom Day.

I hope you go have a not-so-spooky time, Carlie!
