We have a reservation for a cruise in February 2024. There is a possibility that we may have to cancel, but we won't know until the end of this year (2023). If we cancel, do we just lose our $$ or will DCL allow us to apply it to a future cruise?

    Ahoy Christopher,

Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your question! It's always exciting when you're in countdown mode to a Disney Cruise Line vacation. We love checking out our Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to see the character icons change each day as our sailing nears. We've also been in the position where we've had to cancel an upcoming voyage so I also know how stressful and disappointing that can be. There are a number of factors to consider when canceling your cruise vacation, so let's review them and see what options you have.

First, you'll want to review the cancellation policies listed on the terms and conditions page. If you are booked in a Restricted Category Stateroom, the cruise fare paid is nonrefundable and nontransferable. These are typically Guaranteed Staterooms where you select the category of Stateroom you prefer (Inside, Outside, Verandah) and are assigned a specific Stateroom number as the sail date approaches.

If you are a guest booked in a Suite or Concierge Stateroom you may cancel subject to the cancellation fee schedule. At this time guests booked in Suites or Concierge Staterooms would forfeit 100% of the cruise fare per guest if cancelled 29 days or less prior to sailing. Cancellations made 55-30 days prior are subject to a 75% fee, 50% at 89-56 days prior, and a deposit per guest for cancellations made 90 days or more prior to sail date.

If you are not in a Restricted Category, Suite or Concierge Stateroom the cancellation schedule will depend on the length of your sailing. For 1 to 5-night cruises you may cancel for a full refund 90 days or more prior to your sailing. For cruise 6-nights or more you may receive a full refund if cancelled 120 days or more before your sailing. As your sail date approaches the refund amount will decrease according to the cancellation schedule listed on the terms and conditions page.

If you decide to cancel you can do so online under the "My Reservations" link, or call a helpful Cast Member for additional assistance. You may want to reach out to them now to discuss your options for modifying to another sail date that will better fit your schedule.

I hope this was helpful Christopher. If we can be of further assistance please don't hesitate to ask us more questions.

    Wishing you magic and memories,
    Amy
