We have a reservation at California Grill and are trying to decide between using table credits or pay out of pocket. We have 2 kids(5+10), both picky eaters. If we paid out of pocket-must each child order a meal? Or could they share a meal?

Hello Anne!  I hEAR you're dining at California Grill soon, which is my favorite place to splurge on a Walt Disney World vacation!  As a mom of three picky eaters, I have some advice for you.

Signature Dining Restaurants are the best of the best dining in Walt Disney World, and they offer a unique experience, making them perfect for special celebrations (or in our case, an unforgettable family vacation experience).  On the Disney Dining Plan, these restaurants will cost you two entitlements, so I understand your predicament, as I've been there myself.

Although my husband and I love to order the famed Oak-fired Filet of Beef, my kids would much prefer to simply order off the starter menu. When we went for my 11-year-old's birthday, all he wished for was the California Combination Roll, and my other boys are big fans of sharing the pepperoni flatbread pizza.  So unless your 10-year-old has an adult-sized appetite, you're probably better off saving your dining entitlements and paying out of pocket. This way, your kiddos can certainly feel free to share a meal.  After a day of (multiple) Dole Whips in the parks, I've been known to order the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli off the appetizer menu for my dinner (oh my goodness...it's so delicious).  However, the one thing I'm never willing to skip at California Grill is dessert (Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake anyone?)!

Don't forget that the best perk of eating here is the view. Bring your receipt with you to the check-in desk on the second floor, and you can gain re-entry to the observation deck later in the evening to see the fireworks- complete with piped in music to immerse you in the magic!
