Hi. I have a reservation for California Grill. I'm going with my daughter (1year7m). I'm worried if she will behave. I know California Grill is a kid friendly restaurant, but i wonder if its appropriate for a small child.

    Hi Lauren,

I began taking my own children to Disney's signature restaurants when they were about a year old. I have dined at the California Grill many times and have often seen babies and toddlers there. With the one exception of Victoria & Albert's, young children truly are welcome at any Walt Disney World restaurant. California Grill is equipped with high chairs and coloring pages for your daughter.

All that being said, there are things you can do to improve your experience:

    - Make sure your child is well rested. Fancy dinner day is not the day to skip the nap.
    - Be prepared with small toys or other distractions. A new quiet toy can often buy you 20 minutes more of peaceful dining.
    - Ask for a table near the exit. This will allow you to get up easily if you need step away from the table for a few moments.
    - Take a look at the menu ahead of time so your ordering goes quickly. Menus are available at allears.net.
    - Make sure your child is hungry, but not too hungry. You want her to eat, but not be cranky when you arrive at the restaurant.
    - Direct your server to your needs. Do you want your child served first? Do you want your appetizer and entree to be ordered together? Let your server know your preferences.
    - Modify your meal based on your child's mood. If everything's going OK, then you can linger over your meal. If the little one is having a bad day, then just have an entree and skip appetizer and dessert.

Good luck with your planning. I hope you and your little princess have a wonderful time at the California Grill.
