Hi there, Stacey! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
Even with the heat, June is my favorite time to visit. In fact, we try to visit every June to celebrate a few family birthdays! Stacey, with all the years that I lived in Florida, I picked up a few tips and tricks to help beat the heat.
My number one tip for visiting Walt Disney World Resort in the summer months is to get to the parks as soon as they open and head straight to the areas of the park with little to no shade, such as
Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Not only will getting to the park early allow you to knock out some rides with minimal wait time, but it will be the coolest time of the day as well.
Even if your family isn't one who needs a mid-day nap, don't underestimate the importance of a break after lunchtime, if only to get out of the sun during the hottest part of the day. While we like to head back to the resort for a mid-day nap or a swim, other great options are to schedule a sit-down lunch or catch a show such as
For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration,
Mickey's PhilharMagic, or the all-new
Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along.
Staying hydrated is going to be your number one priority. Remember, not only are you out in the sun, but you will be walking a ton as well. My family always brings in a cooler filled with ice-cold waters and sports drinks so that we always have easy access to a chilled beverage.
Last but not least, make sure that you use proper sun protection, including sunscreen and a good hat. I also always have a couple of cooling towels that can be soaked in water for myself, and my kids love those adorable Mickey or Minnie fans that spray water.
In terms of special events, while you will have just missed the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, there are plenty of new additions to Walt Disney World Resort for you to check out. Make sure you stop by the World Showcase at EPCOT where you can catch three all-new films. Then hop aboard the
Disney Skyliner to be whisked away to Disney's Hollywood Studios, where you can step inside a cartoon on
Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway before you journey to a galaxy far, far away at
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
I hope that this helped, Stacey. Please come back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel if we can help as you plan your magical getaway.
See you real soon!
