Is it required to tip cast members to get off rides at disneyland?

Hey there, hi there, Emily! Welcome to planDisney. We are so glad you've stopped by to ask us your question.

Oh boy! You've come to the right place to clear up any confusion. It seems as though you may have stumbled across a satirical "news" source that has given you some false information. I am happy to report that tipping Cast Members to get off an attraction at Disneyland is not a thing. In fact, Cast Members working at attractions are not allowed to receive monetary tips. The only places in the parks where tipping would be appropriate would be for your server or bartender if you are dining at table service locations. Another instance would be if you booked a VIP Tour for your park day.

I will share that if you have a lovely interaction or experience with a Cast Member going above and beyond leaving a Cast Compliment is always a great way to thank them. You can do this in the Disneyland app. The quickest way to do this would be to search "Cast Compliment" in the search tool. It is helpful if you happen to get the Cast Member's name and hometown that is listed on their name tag. When you submit these they will be recognized with a thank you note including your compliment.

Emily, I hope this helped ease any worry you had about extra expenses for your upcoming visit. We are always here to set the record straight if you have any other questions about your visit. See you real soon!

While Disneyland is our home away from home, we love trying to make a Walt Disney World Resort vacation happen at least once a year now too. All my friends know I'm the go-to for Disney advice, so I'm here to help you plan and experience the magic on your visit! Learn More About Carrie
