A relative (a Florida resident) will be joining us (weather permitting) on our 1st day in Disney World. Is it possible for her to book a room for herself for just one night at our hotel ( Pop Century) after she arrives (without advance reservation)?

It's possible, pending availability. I should warn you that Disney hotels run at a very high occupancy rate, much higher than the rest of the hotel industry. If you're visiting WDW during the summer or a holiday season, it's unlikely that the hotel will have vacancies. That being said, it never hurts to try. I personally have gotten reservations just a day or two before arrival several times. (Usually we wanted to extend our trip by arriving early.)

If you are trying to get a last-minute reservation, it can help to be flexible on where you stay. For example, if the Pop is full, your friend might consider staying at another value resort. You can always meet her at the parks or take a quick cab ride between the hotels. Also, the further in advance you try to book, the better luck you will have. If you check the forecast a week before arrival and it looks good, then I would try to book then rather than waiting until the very last minute.
