Hello, I just registered my almost 12 year old for the Super Heroes 10K. It will be his first 10K and a surprise birthday event. Where would you recommend we stay? Also, do you have any suggestions on how I can keep track /watch /cheer during the run?

    Hi Kimberly!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. What a fun surprise birthday for your Super Hero, way to go Mama!

I would recommend booking a hotel as soon as you can because availability and pricing can be affected by Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend. If it is within your budget, I'd look at one of the three property hotels, Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel, Disneyland Hotel or Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. These are the most convenient to the start and finish points and you are closer to the Downtown Disney and the parks as well. If you are looking for other alternatives, you can't go wrong with any of the Good Neighbor Hotels. The races have traditionally started on Disneyland Drive so I usually consider this when looking at the Good Neighbor Hotels on a map. I have personally stayed at the Anabella Hotel, which will unfortunately be under construction, and the Best Western Plus Stovall's Inn. I liked both of these because they were straight shots to the race start!

For keeping track of him, you can sign up for runner tracking, but this will only give you updates when he hits certain points in the race. If you'd like something in real time, I've shared my location with my husband on my iPhone and ran with it in a flip belt so he can see exactly where I am at any given time.
