Howdy Dylan,
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. I'm happy to help as you work on travel plans for your next visit.
Though I've saddled up and enjoyed
Horseback Riding at
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort on two occasions I have not experienced the Campsites as a guest. As a city girl who has yet to earn her Wilderness Explorer Badge, I fear I'd be faced with a flat tent when it was time to tuck in for the night. However, I've come across a few social media posts from guests who have much more advanced survival skills than I do, which made tent camping look like a fun way to experience the resort!
For many, the thrill of camping in a
tent or pop-up campsite means taking the experience, weather, and wildlife as they come. As you know, Florida is prone to rain showers but this is a risk with camping at any location. I have heard instances of guests being contacted to change resorts when a potentially severe tropical storm or hurricane was predicted but outside of that, I don't believe any additional measures are put into place. You are welcome to
contact a Cast Member by phone to discuss your concerns and inquire about specific rental options, policies and procedures as you make your decision.
I'd recommend reviewing the rate calendar, viewable from the Rate Details link, for your travel dates and keeping the weather in mind. Nightly rates appear to be lower toward the end of August through mid-September, but this is also typically the height of hurricane season. If bad weather is a big concern, you might want to consider some of the
Value Resort options. I find the nightly rates at
Disney's All-Star Music Resort to be reasonable, and you might find a
special offer that makes the stay an even better value.
If the call of the wild still calls to you, you'll find plenty of magic awaiting at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. My family hopes to experience
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue on our next trip and I would love to see all the guest decorations during the Halloween and Holiday seasons. Since the newly renovated
Cabins are also a
pet-friendly option we may bring our pup for a stay one day in the future. She's been requesting Mickey-shaped kibble so I'll have to keep an eye out.
Dylan, I hope this was helpful. Please come back and see us again with more planning questions.
Magic and memories,
Amy
