Hello Sai! It is nice to see you here at planDisney with another great question.
It is a good idea to be prepared ahead of your trip as far as expected expenses. For
table-service meals, menu prices do not include tax, but the tax amount will be added to your bill as a separate line item; you will not need to worry about calculating and adding the tax yourself. Most of Walt Disney World Resort is in Orange County where the tax rate is currently 6.5%; a few locations such as
Disney's All-Star Resorts are located in Osceola County where the tax rate is a smidge higher.
For parties of 6 or more Guests, an 18% gratuity (tip) will automatically be added to your bill. Even if your party has fewer than 6 Guests, I would suggest 18% as a baseline for acceptable service. I have been tipping servers a bit more recently, as I know many have been out of work in recent months. To make calculations easier, you will find suggested tip amounts for 18% and 20% printed on your bill. There will be a line to write a tip amount (or an additional amount, if the 18% gratuity has already been added) on your bill and a line for the total.
To use your example, if the cost of your meal is $50.00, the amount of tax added to your bill in most locations would be $3.25, and you should add $9 - $10 for a tip. Your total cost would then be $63.25.
Although we haven't yet heard if
Disney Dining Plans will return in time for your trip next year, keep in mind that tax is included with the plan but gratuities are not, so you will need to plan for paying for those out of pocket.
I hope that helps! We are always happy to answer your questions, so please feel free to stop by planDisney again as often as you like.
