What are your recommendations for an awesome experience with any of the character dining. My oldest son, 7 yrs old, will have finished his treatment for Leukemia in aug. (after 3+ years of chemo) and we want to celebrate the fact he beat cancer :)

    Hi Christina,

Your question brings tears to my eyes. You must be so thrilled with your son's medical progress.

There are 10 different character meals at Walt Disney World. Three of them have a very princess/girly feel to them. The remaining ones are:

    - Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club resort (breakfast)
    - Tusker House at the Animal Kingdom (breakfast and lunch)
    - Play and Dine at Hollywood and Vine in Disney's Hollywood Studios (breakfast and lunch)
    - Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary (breakfast and dinner)
    - Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
    - Ohana at the Polynesian (breakfast)
    - Garden Grill at Epcot (dinner)

Of these, my favorite food is at Ohana and Tusker House. But the most iconic character meal is Chef Mickey's. This includes a large buffet and all classic Mickey characters. It's a real crowd pleaser.

You may want to head over to the independent website DisneyFoodBlog.com and look for articles there about how to choose a character meal and tips on how to make your character meal work better. This will help you make the best choice possible for your little hero.

    Enjoy!
