Would you recommend taking a 12 year old to California Grill or is it more a restaurant for adults? If so, what time would you recommend we make a reservation to be able to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks afterwards? Thank you.

    Greetings Jill!

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question! California Grill is one of my favorite places to dine when visiting the Walt Disney World Resort. I have taken my four children, which range in age from 10 to 17, on several occasions and they have always thoroughly enjoyed the entire dining experience. California Grill offers an upscale, yet family friendly atmosphere.

In regards to time, I have dined just prior to Wishes nighttime spectacular and also during the firework show. When we dined during the firework display, we were able to go to the outside observation deck to watch and then return to our table afterwards. If your family prefers to dine earlier that evening, you can always bring your receipt back to the check-in desk on the 2nd floor of Disney's Contemporary Resort and you will be allowed to reenter California Grill, in order to watch Wishes nighttime spectacular. My personal preference is to book an Advanced Dining Reservation approximately 90 minutes prior to Wishes nighttime spectacular.

I would definitely recommend experiencing California Grill with your 12-year-old during your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to visit us again. Best wishes for a magical trip, Jill!
