Do you recommend getting reservations for dinner? I hate to commit to a time, but also don't want to wait forever to get a table when we decide we're hungry.

Hi, Stacy! For many people, a big part of their Walt Disney World vacation is trying new restaurants or unique dining experiences. For others, it's not really a priority, and they can enjoy a meal anywhere.

I think whether or not you need reservations depends on which category you fall into. Unless you are going to be in Walt Disney World during a very busy holiday period, you can usually find a Disney restaurant reservation somewhere. You may have to be flexible, or consider going to a resort hotel, but I have never been unable to find some place to eat.

There are also a lot of quick service restaurants, where you don't need a reservation. Some of my favorites include Satu'li Canteen and Flame Tree Barbecue at Disney's Animal Kingdom and Columbia Harbor House at the Magic Kingdom. Although counter service restaurants, they offer meals that go beyond the typical burgers and chicken nuggets you would expect at a quick service location.

If you have your heart set on a character meal or something that is a specialty experience - such as 50s Prime Time Cafe - they do book in advance. To avoid disappointment at not being able to get a table, you may want to book those ahead of time.

    Have a great trip!
