Ahoy, Christine!
I'm so glad you asked this question because I also have two teens (boy and girl), and we cruise with Disney Cruise Line for the exact reason you mentioned-family bonding. My husband and I love being able to disconnect from our busy lives at home, which allows us to spend time together as a couple (when the kids are in the clubs) and time as a family.
While onboard we find the cruise staff offers a lot of different options for us to experience as a family. You'll want to download the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to have these
activities at your fingertips or stop by
Guest Services to pick up a paper copy so your crew can plan out your days onboard. You'll want to pay particular attention to the section "FUN FOR ALL AGES." During the day you'll find Disney animation classes, trivia, crafts (we enjoyed origami), games shows (love The Wheel and The Feud), family karaoke,
first-run movies in the Buena Vista Theatre, workshops and shows by the Guest entertainers, Anyone Can Cook lessons, and Bingo (have to be 18 or over to purchase cards). I also recommend indulging in a delectable treat at
Sweet on You (nominal fee), playing a round of Goofy Golf, solving a mystery playing the
Midship Detective Agency, and meeting your favorite
Disney Characters.
Christine, we also enjoy grabbing a slice of pizza or ice cream cone (or both!) and watching a movie together on the Funnel Vision or going to
O'Gills Pub during the day to play board games. And one of our all-time favorite events to watch together is Jack-Jack's Diaper Dash. It's so much fun to watch the youngest cruisers "race" to see who is the fastest crawler on the seven seas. We also love to come together at dinner to talk about our day and our favorite memories. We don't often sit down at the same time during the school year, so this time is priceless to me.
The possibilities are endless, so I hope your crew experiences some of these and more on your upcoming voyage.
Thank for you visiting us! Bon Voyage!
Nancy
