Namaste, Shantel!
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. Sink into a chair (or strike up a warrior pose) and let’s discuss the details.
I must have missed
this particular Disney Parks Blog post when it was first published, so I'm glad you brought it to my attention. Like you, I think yoga would be a great way to relax and reset after a few days of magic in the parks. I thought finding the schedule details would be as simple as child’s pose, but I was surprised when I nearly had to bend over backward to uncover the information. I stretched myself to the limit reading through resort databases and reaching out to
Cast Members online and by phone. That research proved unsuccessful, but I was determined to remain flexible. As they say, “Where there’s a mat, there’s a way,” right? I’m sure someone
must have said that at some point.
Thankfully planDisney is made up of some pretty amazing and knowledgeable panelists so I was able to call on friends for some help.
Lauren H. and
Betsy both visited Walt Disney World Resort recently and had photos to share of their resort's recreation schedules. Schedules are subject to change (often updated monthly) but classes appear to be offered once per week at participating resorts. These classes are complimentary for guests of that resort, and while reservations are not required, you are advised to arrive early to secure a spot and complete any necessary waivers.
Based on some internet scouring and my panelist pal’s photos Storytime Yoga was recently offered at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. I found online mentions of it at
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Contemporary Resort as well, but I'm not sure if it is still a current offering. Guests can also enjoy Disney Fit Yoga which is available for all skill levels but recommended for ages 12 and older. As of last week,
Disney’s Old Key West Resort offered this on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. but dates and times are subject to change. Keep in mind that these are outdoor classes and weather-dependent.
You can find information about your Disney Resorts Collection hotel's recreation offerings at the
Front Desk upon arrival. There's usually a mix of complimentary and paid activities to enjoy throughout your stay, so you can go with the (yoga) flow or jam-pack your schedule. If you don't see signage or a printout you can take, ask a Cast Member for more details. I also recommend keeping an eye out for recreation signage in high-traffic areas like the pool or main elevator banks or reviewing resort details on your in-room TV. While you’re there, be sure to watch the planDisney videos featuring my pals Kaitlin, Elizabeth, LeAndra, and Leslie, too!
I hope this was helpful, Shantel. Please come back and see us again with more planning questions. We're always ready to stretch to great lengths to help guests have a magical visit.
Keep calm and carry "om,"
Amy
