I have recently read some complaints about the wait for a disney bus and was wondering how accurate this was. How long are the waits to get on a bus from POR and how often do they run from the Disney parks? Which would be better, rent a car or bus? Thx!

    Hi Jamie,

I love the Disney bus transportation system. While I have had days I wished I drove into the parks with a car, they are far and few between. The roadways at Disney are extensive and I would spend more time driving looking for the park then being in the park. In addition, parking at Magic Kingdom is challenging because you have to go from parking lot to another mode of transportation -boat or monorail - into the park.

The Disney buses run every 20 minutes. They also will run more frequently for openings and closings when they know the number of guests will be greater than other times of the day. Having stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, I have not had a transportation issue and most bus rides are about 15 minutes to the parks.

Now, if you have little ones in strollers, you may want to think about the car or the resort. Travelling back to the resort after a day of touring it can be a challenge to juggle sleepy children and a stroller. This is why I recommend staying at a resort with monorail or boat access to a park or two when touring with a stroller so you are not always holding a child and stroller. I will say 99% of the guests will give up their seat to help out families which rocks in my book!

    Have a magical vacation!
