Greetings and welcome to planDisney, Bailey. Thanks for stopping by to share this question with us. I'm so glad to hear that you are interested in becoming a
Magic Key holder and I'm thrilled to help out.
Woohoo! The day we've long been waiting for is almost here. Magic Key sales will reopen this week on November 6th. Great news, you most certainly can apply the value of a wholly unused theme park ticket towards the purchase of a Magic Key pass as long as the cost of the Magic Key pass is greater than or equal to the amount paid for your theme park ticket. There are a couple of ways that you can
go about making this upgrade, so let's break it down.
You can upgrade your One-Day Park Hopper ticket on the day of your visit by midnight. This can easily be done in the
Disneyland app. With this option, you will be able to use your existing theme park reservation and your Magic Key pass activation date will also be the date of this visit.
Magic Key sales can be paused at any time and there's also the possibility that the pass that you might be interested in could sell out before your visit. For these reasons, you may consider upgrading your theme park ticket ahead of your visit. With this option, you will need to visit a ticket booth at the main entrance in person. Your existing theme park reservation will not carry over to your Magic Key pass and you will have to make a new
Magic Key reservation for your planned visit. I recommend carefully reviewing all of the
details for upgrading your theme park ticket to help you decide which option will be best for you.
Bailey, I hope this has been helpful. Please come back to visit us with any other questions you might have before sales open on November 6th. I'll be sending all the pixie dust your way in the hopes that you will soon be unlocking a year filled with magic!
