We are ready to book Alaska dep 1Sep 2014 (2A+8yr) and a bit overwhelmed as regards stateroom. We want a clear balcony options are decks 5,6 or 7. Is deck 5 noisier with the kids clubs? Or quieter as less staterooms. We lean towards a quieter option:-)

    Ahoy Dee!
I'm so excited for your family because the Alaskan voyages are absolutely amazing!!! I was lucky enough to sail on the Disney Wonder at the end of August, and it was definitely a trip of a lifetime!  Reserving a verandah stateroom is the way to go because there is so much to see each and every moment of your sailing!  My camera stayed on the coffee table because my verandah was one of my favorite spots to capture the breathtaking wildlife and scenery!
If you are concerned about noise, Deck Five aft is probably a great option for your family.  It is far enough away from the kids clubs that you won't hear much noise at all, but still convenient when your eight year old wants to go.  My room was Deck 7 aft, and I enjoyed being close to the 24 hour beverage station and the Beach Blanket Buffet.  Either side of the ship is a great choice because the views are really 360 degrees.  I was on the port side and did enjoy seeing the port cities when we were docked.
I hope I've helped, Dee!  Please write back if you have any other Alaska cruise questions!
Have a magical day and good luck with your planning!
