I am just reading about park "opening ceremonies," and I have not heard of them until this week. What is it, and does each park do something? Is it a big deal that we should try to plan (we do like getting there early),

Hi, Andrea!  Each park has something going on as the rope drops to let guests in for the day.  Usually, it involves an appearance by the characters, some music, and lots of smiles!  I'm an early riser, and I love getting to the parks early.  Rope drop is a bonus for people who like to get there early.

I wouldn't say it's a big deal, must do event - especially if it means having to wake small children up early and causing them to be crabby throughout the day.  But it is a great way to get the magic started!
