Hi Moms, I have been reading this forum daily, thanks for your input. We are traveling to WDW Aug. 12-15, 2008. We are traveling with children (11,10, and 2 months). Any suggestions on keeping a newborn cool in the August heat and older kids happy?

    Tina,

I'll just miss you - my family arrives on the 16th.  :)

When we've traveled with a baby we used clip-on battery powered fans.  If you do an internet search of 'battery clip fan' you'll get several websites that carry them.  I can't remember who I ordered from but I know I had to purchase online because they were impossible to find in stores (at least in my area).  The angle is adjustable as needed and the fan blades are soft foam so they're perfectly safe if your baby touches them.  This was a great help for our babies, and really a second one facing back to cool the stroller pusher would be nice too!  Additionally we take small handheld battery fans for all of the family.  I picked ours up at Wal-Mart and I think they were around $1 each.  Well worth the investment!  These fans all run off of AA batteries so snag some at the dollar store before you go - they can be pricey in the parks.

Another tip is to rotate rides.  If you wait outside to go on Dumbo, then head to It's A Small World next so you can have a nice indoor queue and long cool relaxing ride.  Pirates of the Caribbean, Mickey's PhilharMagic, The Great Movie Ride, It's Tough To Be A Bug, and the boat rides all over Epcot are some of our favorite cool-down spots.

To keep the older kids entertained I'd highly recommend buying a book or two like Hidden Mickey's, Passporter's Treasure Hunts, or Walt Disney World Trivia.  They are a lot of fun for grown-ups too!
