    I've been reading about a 'drawing class' at Disney Studios. Do we need to sign-up or just show up? Also, is there an age limit to the class? DD5 loves to draw and is wanting to participate. I don't want to disappoint her :( Thanks!

    Hi!

    You've stumbled across what I consider to be a hidden gem at Disney's Hollywood Studios! The Animation Academy is located at the back of the Magic of Disney Animation attraction and features a fun class where anyone, of any age, can learn to draw a Disney character.

    An animator leads a group of guests through drawing a Disney character which varies each class. The classes are currently starting at about 10:30 each morning and take place every 1/2 hour. The classes are first-come, first-served style and will allow as many guests into each class as there are desks. No need to sign up, just enter the small waiting area when you're ready become an artist!

    When you first enter the Magic of Disney Animation attraction, you'll be seated in a small theater with a movie featuring Mushu. Both my kids love the show, so you might want to be sure to catch it at least once. If you prefer, you do not need to watch the movie (if you decide on a return visit the class). You can enter via the gift shop to the right of the attraction. Just ask a cast member to point the way for you.

    While you're waiting for class to begin, you'll also be able to visit with some Disney characters as many appear in this area throughout the day.

    Be sure to hang on to your creations and sign & date them. They make a unique (and free!) souvenir. In fact, our home's entryway is decorated with 4 Goofys - one drawn by each member of our family during a Christmas vacation! Its a special way to remember both our time at Disney AND just how much our children have grown!
