I just read there will be a United Way Chef's Gala at Epcot's World Showplace on the evening of May21st. Will they close off any portion of the world showcase to regular Disney guests?

    Hi Melissa!

No worries! There are tons of areas in World Showcase to hold a large dinner event that are out of the way of normal guest traffic. I bet you won't even know there is a special event going on.

In fact there is a large building near the Canadian Pavilion called World Showplace that is not normally open to guests. This could be where the dinner is being held. If so, you'll probably see a small sign indicating an event there - but that's it.

On very rare occasions, I've seen the walkway/access area between Future World and World Showcase closed for an outdoor dinner and concert. This is normally a public area, but guests at that time were simply redirect to alternate pathways. Again, this is pretty rare!

    Hope this helps!
