I read that the Sci Fi Dinner can scare some children? Is that true? Never been, visiting wdw in july with 2,9,17 year olds, we liked the idea of this restaurant but thought I would check it out with the moms panel. they show sci fi movies? Thanks!

    Hi Melissa,

We are Sci Fi regulars and have been since our boys were babies. The boys love the atmosphere in the "drive-in" and that they get to dine in a really cool looking car. There is a large movie screen in the front of the restaraunt and it does run a loop of sci-fi clips and select cartoons. The clips are very short in nature and are actually quite humorous. They are from old sci fi movies and the word that I use to best describe the clips is cheesy. Our boys have never found them frightening and there is a good mix of dancing refreshment commercials and cartoons to entertain the kids. I have not found any of my friends whose kids were alarmed by the clips and often the setting of the restaraunt is such a distraction that the kids may not even watch the movie clips.

Of course every child is different and your child may not respond the same way as mine. If you are concerned that this setting may be frightening for your child, ask the parking attendant ( uh I mean hostess) if you can take a peak inside the restaraunt before being seated. Watch a few minutes of the clips and see what you think. You can always cancel your reservation if you do not think this will work for your family. I think you will find the kids love it!

    Have a great time!
