I have read your responses to questions here, and am organizing a HUGE first trip. We have 4 children so naturally, gift cards have been given for all birthdays and holidays. How do you pay for everything with gift cards? Resorts/Tickets/Dining/Extras?

Hi there, Shelby! It's so great to see you here at planDisney.

Wow! It sounds like you are planning a fabulous vacation complete with lots of family, fun, and one my favorite things, Disney Gift Cards!

Shelby, what you will want to do first is make sure that you combine your gift cards on disneygiftcard.com. Each card can hold up to $1,000, and you can have a maximum of 5 cards registered to your account at any time. To pay for things like your vacation package (including your room and tickets), you can simply book online using your gift card for the deposit. When you are ready to pay the balance, you will need to call  (407) 939-5277, and the friendly Cast Member will manually enter your gift cards, allowing you to use multiple gift cards in one transaction.

Once you arrive at Walt Disney World Resort, using your gift cards to purchase food, beverages, and souvenirs could not be easier! Simply present your gift card at the point of sale.

Shelby, don't forget that you can use your Disney Gift Card when you mobile order your food through the My Disney Experience Mobile App. I find mobile ordering a lifesaver when I am traveling with the kids. We all get to pick what we want in advance, and I can direct the family straight to an available table and wait for my husband to grab the food!

Another thing I like to do is to give each member of my family one gift card each. This can be used for any souvenirs and gives my little ones some purchasing power of their very own. It also stops me from going a little too crazy in the World of Disney or Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe

If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel and have a handy dandy MagicBand, you will still be able to take advantage of those awesome charging privileges; however, since you can not link your MagicBand directly to a gift card, here is what you will have to do. When you make a purchase using your MagicBand, the amount due will be charged to your room and the credit card that you specified during mobile check-in. At the end of your trip, just swing by the front desk, and they will reverse any credit card charges and apply your Disney Gift Card instead!

Disney Gift Cards really are the ultimate Mystery Mousekatool! Make sure that you keep an eye out at Target or your local warehouse store; you may just find some Disney Gift Cards at a great value.

I hope that this helped, Shelby. Please come back here if we can help answer questions about where to stay, eat, and play at Walt Disney World Resort!

    See you real soon!
