I read about the PhotoPass option on the website. Do you have to purchase this before your trip or can you take part in it then purchase it once youre home? If you buy it in advance how do you use it in the parks? It seems a little confusing. THANKS!

    Jessica,

PhotoPass is great, but The PhotoPass CD rocks!  You can literally get hundreds of PhotoPass photos on your CD while in the parks (there is no limit, except for the number of photographers you can find, and the number of pictures you have taken during your stay), and then augment your photo collection by cropping, or adding borders and other graphics online after you return from your trip (before you finalize your purchase).  All for the relatively low cost of approximately $125 [Prices as of February 2008].

You do not have to pre-purchase it, but you currently can save about $25 off of the $125 cost if you do.

Regarding how it all works in practice, let me try to explain:

Pre-purchasing:  You pre-purchase the CD online at http://www.disneyphotopass.com.  You will receive a coupon code by email.  When you are ready to "purchase" the CD after your trip, you simply enter this coupon code, and the cost will be zero.  It is "satisfaction guaranteed."  If you aren't happy with the quantity or quality of photos, you can get a refund (some restrictions may apply; see site for details)

Use in the parks:  The first time you spot a PhotoPass photographer, ask them for a photopass card.  From then on, each photographer will electronically read this card so that each photo they take is linked to that card account.  You can use multiple cards during your vacation, and then centralize all the photos online afterwards (by entering all of the card numbers into a single online account).  Be sure to write down the PhotoPass card number (or better yet, text message/email it to yourself), just in case you lose it.
