Hello! I read the last question about booking a split stay and the helpful tips. My question is about the dining plan. How would I book that if I am doing a split stay? We plan on doing a long trip but slightly confused on this part. Thank you!

Hi Donia, and welcome to planDisney! I absolutely love split stays and being able to experience more than one of the amazing Disney Resort hotels in one trip.

If your split stay is booked as two Disney vacation packages, you can add the dining plan to those existing reservations. Just visit My Plans on the Disney World website, find your first stay, and click Change Reservation. Here you should be able to add the dining plan, and there will be two options—the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan and the Disney Dining Plan.

The process is a little different for Disney Vacation Club (DVC) reservations and room-only stays booked by Annual Passholders.

If you booked through DVC, you can add the dining plan in My Dashboard on the DVC website. When you expand your first reservation, you’ll see Purchase Dining Plan under Trip Options.

If you’re an Annual Passholder with a room-only reservation, you’ll need to call the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations phone number and a Cast Member would be happy to help you purchase the dining plan.

The dining plan needs to be added separately for each of your two reservations. But using the dining plan with a split stay gives you even more flexibility! You can add it to just one of your reservations, or add the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan to one and the Disney Dining Plan to the other. Sometimes my family likes to do this if we only want to do table-service meals during part of our trip. One thing to keep in mind, the credits need to be used between check-in and midnight on the day you check out from each reservation. Credits can't be combined between the two stays.

To see how many credits you have left, you can check the My Disney Experience app, look at your most recent dining receipt, or ask at your resort hotel or Guest Relations

One more tip before I sign off, mobile food ordering is a great time saver. It works with your dining plan credits for both quick-service dining and table-service to go. The latter has been a great option for my family when we’re close to my nephew’s nap or bedtime and we don’t have time for a table-service meal.

I’m sending you all the pixie dust for a magical vacation filled with delicious food! If you have any other questions, we’d love to have you back at planDisney.
