I read in a guidebook that the gift shops in the water parks sell little plastic boxes for 5 dollars in the water parks that you can wear around your neck in the water parks so that you don’t have to rent a locker? Is this true? What are the names of gift

There are "water safes" sold at almost all the gift shops at the water parks. They are also sold at the resorts that have gift shops near their pools (Yacht/Beach Club, Contemporary, possibly others). There are a few different sizes of safes. The prices could change, but most that I've seen range in price from about $5 to about $10. Depending on which size you purchase, the safes can hold from about 4 to about 10 credit-card-sized objects.

I do own a water safe and use it at the Disney water parks. We put our Key to the World (room key) in it so that we have access to a payment method if we want a quick snack while we're deep into the park. However, even though I have the water safe, we also always rent a locker as well. We usually have a camera with us that we don't want to leave out in the open. Additionally, my hubby likes having access to the full contents of his wallet -- more than would fit in the water safe -- so that needs to be locked up.

There are many people who go to the theme parks and water parks with only their room key in hand. While this is possible, I wouldn't recommend it. We have had a few instances where someone in our party has become ill while touring. We got this handled quickly at the nearby CentraCare walk-in clinic, but in order to do this we needed cash for a cab, a credit card, medical insurance cards, and other identification. We would not have been able get our medical needs met expeditiously if we did not have all that handy. I suggest you bring your wallet to the water park and put it in a locker.
