I've read conflicting info on the DDP which I hope you can clarify. Does the DDP now include an appetizer, entrée and dessert for table service meals? Please provide more info on what's included as well as DDP changes made earlier this year. THANKS

    Hi Kristen!

Just this spring, changes were made to the Disney Dining Plan to allow more flexibility and offer a better value for Guests. These changes had to do with how Guests may redeem their dining entitlements. There are three types of entitlements: Table Service, Quick Service and Snack.

Table Service Entitlements include an entree, a non-alcoholic beverage and a dessert. In the past, there were no substitutions on these items. Now, those that prefer not to get a dessert may request a fruit plate, a side salad or cup of soup. Only these items can be substituted, and you may not substitute from the restaurant’s regular appetizer menu. The other change is that you may use as many entitlements as you wish at one time. For example, if you have family meeting you for dinner, you may now use your entitlements to treat them to a meal.

With Quick Service Entitlements, you may substitute the dessert or beverage portion of your meal for an alternate snack item. This must be done in the same transition as when you redeem the meal entitlement. So if you would like a second beverage, maybe a bottle of water to take with you for the afternoon, instead of a chocolate cake, you may now do that. You cannot however, save that portion of your entitlement from your dessert to redeem for a snack later in the day. You may also exchange a Quick Service Entitlement for three snack items as long as it too, is done in a single transaction.

The variety of items available as Snack Entitlements expanded to include many more delightful and delicious options such as basic caramel apples, a cup of soup and hand-scooped ice cream!  There are several websites I like to use when I have food or menu questions that are well respected and known to have reliable information. If you are still confused, feel free to send me another question, or check some of those sites out. I recommend AllEars.net or the Disney Food Blog.

    Happy Dining!
