I just read that the build your own potato head was removed from once upon a toy store awhile ago. I’m extremely disappointed to hear this. Has it been brought back to another location?

    Joe,

Thanks for your question to planDisney!

I am sorry to confirm that the build-your-own Mr. Potato Head experience at Disney Springs has, in fact, been removed during a recent renovation. My girls and I really enjoyed this fun experience, not just for the joy of assembling them, but also for the Disney Parks-specific items that were available. Mickey ears to wear, popcorn buckets or Mickey Ice Cream bars to hold, it was all very cool. I even once built one for a work colleague who was both a Disney fan, and coincidentally had decorated his work cubicle with varied Mr. Potato Heads. What synergy!

Disney has not relocated this builder zone. I don't see any indication that it is likely returning anywhere else either, so for now I think you may be out of luck. But I hate leaving an answer on a low note, so let me tell you about two similar toy building experiences you might want to consider.

    Savi's Workshop
It is time for your inner Jedi (or Sith Lord!) to craft and wield their own lightsaber. Select from choices on blade color, hilts, and other elements to match your mood.

    Droid Depot
Build your own Droid, whether you choose to make an R2 D2 replica or want your own unique mechanical buddy that you personalize with your own selection of bases, tops, and other parts. The interactive remote control toy you leave with is an instant hit!

In both of these experiences, you are not just simply building a souvenir and heading home. The building itself is an experience, steeped in Star Wars theming and fun. You get both a take-home interactive toy, but also a fun crafting experience. They are not inexpensive, but the resulting souvenir is certainly something special. Also, as you likely figured out, both are located in the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge area of Disney's Hollywood Studios

    BONUS TIP
Reservations for either are not only recommended, but basically required, as both experiences are extremely poplar. So if one or both are of interest to you, book your time as soon as possible. Oh, and May The Force Be With You!

    Have a Magical Vacation!
