Hi Rayna from fellow MD Disney Mama! I banked my 2018 points - when will I need to use those by? Can I use the banked 2018 points in January of 2020? Or I need to use before then? Thanks!

Welcome, Dr. Katy to the Moms Panel Clinic!

First, let me congratulate you on making the best.decision.ever(!) by being a member of Disney Vacation Club. I love that we have so much flexibility with Membership. It allows you to decide when, where, and how you vacation!

In regards to your banking question - it all depends on your Use Year. It is what sets the deadline for banking and borrowing points. For example, let's say your Use Year starts August 1st of 2018. That means that your points in that Use Year are available for use until July 31st of 2019. If these are the points that you banked into your 2019 Use Year (i.e., August 1st 2019-July 31st 2020), then you absolutely will be able to use those banked points for a trip in January 2020. Remember though; if you haven’t completed travel on the reservation made with the banked points by the end of the Use Year in which they were banked, they will expire.

Now, if those points aren’t enough to cover your magical vacation, you have the option of borrowing from your next use year to make up the difference. To borrow points book your Disney Vacation Club resort online and borrow at the time of booking. Or you can call Member Services at (800) 800-9800 or (407) 566-3800 to book your accommodations and borrow during that call.

Dr. Katy, I hope this explains banking and borrowing points. Thanks for stopping by and if you have any other questions, feel free to book another appointment with us!
