What are the ratios for Disney Vacation Club rooms versus paid rooms per resort? As a DVC member, it seems as the availability to book DVC rooms has dimished greatly in the last couple years.

    Hi Toni,

Welcome home! I love my Disney Vacation Club membership and have enjoyed many wonderful trips to Walt Disney World, the Disney Cruise and Disneyland using my points.

The split of rooms depends on the resort. Bay Lake Towers, Old Key West, Saratoga Springs and to some extend the Boardwalk were designed for members. Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach Club Villas and Villas at Wilderness Lodge were add ons to exist resorts.

At the resorts where DVC was added on, there are many more rooms for cash guests than points for members. At the resorts which were dedicated to DVC, the ratio is more in DVC favor. You also have to remember how many more DVC members are joining the program.

Rooms at home resorts open at the seven month booking window to guests who are not owners at these resorts. This means these rooms become available to other DVC members to book as well as for guests to pay cash. Also, while I do not encourage this, some members rent their points now at eleven months.

I am looking to travel at Easter in 2012 now. Is my home resort available, no but I do have three other options which I am surprised about at this late date for the holiday.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
