Hi I have a rare disease called Addison’s disease, one of the things I have to do besides take medication is have an needle/syringe and vial of medication on me at all times. I was wondering how I would be able to carry that around the park?

Hi there, Audrey! How exciting to be planning your Walt Disney World vacation! I'm glad we can be here to help.

You are absolutely permitted to bring your medication and the necessary syringes into any of the Walt Disney World theme parks. When you go through the bag check at security, just let them know that the medication is in your bag. There is nothing in the park rules and regulations that prohibit you from bringing the medication with you, but for the safety and understanding of the security personnel, it's better to advise them before they begin the bag check.

All of the bathrooms I have ever visited in at the theme parks have a sharps container in them for when you need to dispose of your needles, so you're good to go there. Did you know you can also request one from the resort front desk to have in your room?

I don't know about your medication, but when I carried insulin with me, I used a Frio wallet. These are designed to keep medication vials cool without the need for ice and ice packs. They can be a life saver in the Florida sunshine.

If you need anything while you are there, you'll find First Aid options both at the parks at your resort. There are even nearby emergency services.

Wishing you an absolutely magical time on your upcoming vacation!
