Aloha Rosalie, and welcome to planDisney. Learning to play Disney songs on the ‘ukulele was one of my family’s favorite experiences at Aulani, and definitely a core memory!
The prices and availability are subject to change, but I just chatted with a Cast Member who confirmed that ‘ukuleles currently start at $48 and can go up to thousands of dollars for limited edition models. In my experience, you can purchase a selection of these musical instruments during the ‘Ohana Ho’okani Pila ‘ukulele lessons or at the
Pau Hana Room if you don’t make it to the lessons (or change your mind later!). The lessons are popular, and reservations can be hard to book. If you weren’t able to snag a spot, check with the Pau Hana Room in the morning each day to see if they have any cancellations.
Now, let’s talk about our favorite ‘ukulele-playing turtle! Recently, I saw a colorful ‘Olu Mel-themed ‘ukulele for sale at
Kalepa’s Store, off of Aulani’s lobby. Duffy and friends merchandise can sell out quickly, so if you don’t see the ‘Olu Mel ‘ukulele when you get to Aulani, keep checking back throughout your stay. The gift shops typically get shipments a couple of times per week.
There are so many activities and
character meets throughout the day at Aulani, so be sure to download the
Aulani Resort app so you don’t miss any of the fun! When you open the app, select the Aulani icon towards the bottom of the screen to see the schedule (I like to press View List to scroll through everything easily). When you go into a specific activity, you can press Add to Plans, which will add it to a list of everything you want to attend. Keep in mind that character meet and greets are added to the schedule each morning (in my experience, it’s usually between 8:00 A.M. and 9:00 A.M.). ‘Olu Mel typically meets a few days per week, so check the app each morning to see if he’s making an appearance that day.
I’m wishing you the most magical visit to Aulani next month! If you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
