    is the Rainforest Cafe in the Animal Kingdom really not applicable to the basic dining plan? Was really disappointed to see it was only for the top two tiers of the dining plans, but it still has the same price ranging as other rest's that take the basic.

    Hi Tammy!  Sadly, neither the Animal Kingdom nor the Downtown Disney locations of the Rainforest Cafe accept the basic or deluxe Disney Dining Plan. The Rainforest Cafe does, however, accept the Premium and Platinum Dining Plans.  The Rainforest Cafe is a very entertaining restaurant with its life-size animatronic creatures, but unless you have the Premium or Platinum plans, you'll have to pay out-of-pocket to dine there. This chain restaurant is not owned by Disney, and thus it elected not to participate in all of the Dining Plans.
     
    To see a list of restaurants that participate in the 2011 Disney Dining Plan, click here. At Animal Kingdom, I really enjoy the food at the Yak & Yeti. If you're looking for a fun meal for kids, consider the character breakfast at Tusker House. Both of those restaurants accept the Dining Plan.
