Hello again, Jamie! Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is less than a week away, and I'm sure you're excited. Don't let the forecast put a damper on your plans, though! Right now it's looking like a 50 percent chance of rain on Saturday and a 40 percent chance on Sunday. If there's one thing I've learned about Florida weather, though, it's that the forecast can change at any time!
I see my
fellow Panelist Rayna has given you some expert suggestions about how to spend your early morning Extra Magic Hour at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and I have to say I wholeheartedly concur with her suggestions. Definitely take advantage of Pandora - The World of Avatar before making your way to Kilimanjaro Safaris. If you experience early morning rain, that's OK! As long as there isn't lightning in the area, the Safaris will continue. Although the Safari vehicles are covered, the sides are open; make sure you each have a poncho and you'll be fine. When my family and I were there last month it absolutely poured while we were on the Safari, but we still saw plenty of animals out and about in the rain. We didn't see any gorillas on the
Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail during the heaviest downpours, but they were out when we returned later in the morning.
In addition to ponchos, I'd suggest taking small travel umbrellas (for quick rain showers) and extra socks (and possibly shoes) in your backpacks or bags. You'll find plenty of places to wait out the rain throughout the Park, including indoor attractions like the Festival of the Lion King and
Finding Nemo - The Musical.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that the weather cooperates with you, Jamie. I'm sure you'll have an awesome time either way, though!
Amy
