Lauren,
Thanks for your question to planDisney!
The official recommendation for going from one resort to another, like in your case of going from
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter to
Disney's Beach Club Resort, is to first take a bus to
Disney Springs or to the Transportation & Ticket Center, and then transfer to the bus headed to the destination resort. This plan is fine, but I think I have a faster, and more entertaining way to go!
What I would do is take a bus to
Disney's Hollywood Studios first, followed by either hopping on the
Disney Skyliner or the
friendship boats, both located right there in front of the park entrance, to the Beach Club. Technically this route may not be any faster than the official suggestion. However, because the Disney Skyliner is a constantly loading service, it is probably going to save you time when compared to the likelihood that you will have to wait for that second bus from Disney Springs to the Beach Club, and that could add upwards of 20 minutes to your travel time.
BONUS TIP
I love to stick to
Disney Transportation, not just because it is complimentary, but also because it just reduces headaches. However, if time is of the essence, like when you are headed to a dining reservation, I will consider taking a Lyft or Uber ride share.
Have a Magical Vacation!
