Quick Question. This is my 2nd time to WDW and my daughter is now 11yo. Do you think next year she will be to old for character meals. She said she would feel awkward, but she loves the characters. Please help me!

I'm sitting in my kitchen with my own 11-almost-12 year old daughter (she made me add that almost-12 part). She is a veteran of hundreds of character meals and completely understands the character dining situation. This is the first thing she said when I read her your questions:

"Well, the character meals have some of the best food."

I think that's her rationalization for saying it's still OK to eat at a character meal. (Now I'm explaining to her what rationalizing is. And she's nodding.)

I would say that she is in a teeny anti-character phase at the moment (it must be that almost-12 thing kicking in). So she's making me say that when she was at the character meals earlier this year she did feel a little awkward. But from where I was sitting, she still gave Mickey some pretty big hugs (she's laughing and nodding now).

I have seen babies, octogenarians, and everyone in between, having great times at the character meals. This includes tweens, teens, collegians, honeymooners, and business people. They all can't resist a little love from the characters. (Miss Almost 12 is now saying that teenage girls are always crazy about getting photos with characters -- maybe she's anticipating that someday she will be almost-13.) So, if your daughter wants to dine at a character meal, by all means, go for it. Absolutely everyone gets the same quality attention from the characters, no matter what there age is.

    Have a great time.
