Question about who can ride together. For some rides, it will be two kids and one adult but many attractions can’t seat three. I’m seeing rules about kids needing an adult. Are they able to ride together with an adult sitting behind them?

    Hi Erin!

    Welcome back to planDisney!

In order to go in a ride vehicle alone, the guest must be 7 years old or older. Little ones under 7 must be accompanied in the ride vehicle by someone who is 14 years old or older.

With that being said, lots of attractions can seat 3 across. So much so that it’s easier to say which attractions don’t allow 3 across! Here’s a quick recap of the rides you’ll come across that do not fit 3 across.

Magic Kingdom: Astro Orbiter (although this attraction is closed until summer 2025), The Barnstormer, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, and TRON.

Hollywood Studios: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Slinky Dog Dash. On Smugglers Run, each person will have their own individual seat, but you’ll be near each other.

    Epcot: Guardians of the Galaxy.

Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest. On Flight of Passage, everyone technically sits in their own ride vehicle, but you’re right next to each other.

It’s good to note that rides like Dumbo and Magic Carpets at Magic Kingdom can get a little snug with 3 across. And Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom and Toy Story Mania at Hollywood Studios can fit 3 across, but there are only 2 game controllers in the vehicle.

TIP: If you happen to ride on Tomorrowland Speedway at Magic Kingdom with 3 across, make sure to ask the Cast Member for a purple flag. That way, you’ll be able to race around the track twice in a row, and each kid can have a turn to drive!

Remember, if you have another adult with you, you can always take advantage of Rider Switch if needed. That way, everyone can enjoy the attractions they were hoping to, even if you’re having trouble figuring out a seating arrangement.

I hope that helps! And I hope you have the best trip! Let us know if you have any other questions!
