Hi, This question is for Erin, We have 6 people going to dine together, 4 is on one DDP plan and two is on another DDP, How do they break up the tip?? Very confused because its automatic for parties of 6 or more. Heidi, from Maine

    Hi Heidi -

I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. I wanted to answer your question while I was at WDW so I could make sure to get the answer exactly right. I had a nice long chat with a manager at the Artist Point restaurant at the Wilderness and he gave me the full scoop.

Tips are not included in the Disney Dining plan. All guests, whether on the Dining Plan or paying with money (cash, credit card, room charge, etc.) should leave a tip at table service restaurants. With small parties, the amount of the tip is at the guest's discretion. With parties of six or more, regardless of whether any or all of them are on the Dining Plan, an 18% gratuity is automatically added to the bill.

For Dining Plan guests, the 18% is assessed on what the meal would have cost had the guest been paying cash. The gratuity appears on a separate line on the check, so you can see how much the meal for the paying guests costs and you can see what the total gratuity is.

In the situation you describe, I would just look at the amount on the gratuity line on the bill and divide by the number of guests in the party. The servers at WDW see parties comprised of Dining Plan and non-Plan guests every day. They certainly provide you with additional assistance at the table.

    Have a great trip!
