My question is for Bret. My family will be @wdw Dec5-15. It looks like the Christmas Day Parade taping might be scheduled also. Should we avoid MK that 1st weekend or just the main street area? Thanks

Please keep in mind, that the official dates for the parade haven't yet been announced.  Please click HERE to read a prior Q&A regarding the possible timing of the Christmas Parade taping, and click HERE for my thoughts on if you should avoid the Magic Kingdom on a parade taping day.

Regarding your specific situation, if it doesn't mess up your plans too much, I'd recommend visiting other parks on Friday and Saturday (less sure about Sunday).  You also might consider going to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on Friday or Sunday night (Dec. 5 or 7), since that would avoid the parade taping, and the party nights are less crowded than most other times at the Magic Kingdom.  During the parade taping, Main Street is basically closed.  Some people have reported several years ago that the rest of the park wasn't too crowded on parade days, but I have heard more recent stories that overall people have regretted going to the Magic Kingdom on these dates, due to the crowds and inconvenience of having a large section of the park closed to the general public.

PLEASE also be sure to check back on the WDW site and/or here after October, so you can read (or ask) about the exact dates for the parade taping.

    Hope that helps.  ºoº
