my question is .... When is the best time to go? I am taking my 8 year old son and 5 year old daughter for the first time and I really wanted to know the best time of the year to go so that I could start planning?

    Marcia,

A universal rule is that when schools are in session, that is a good time to visit. Crowds are more manageable because there are fewer families there, meaning you have less time spent waiting in lines, and less 'competition' for getting reservations at the restaurants you would like to visit.

Of these times, I think there is no better than September/October. I prefer September because it is a more summer-like weather. When I recall my childhood visits to Walt Disney World, I think of summer, so to me it is just the way it is supposed to be. May is also a very good choice, though earlier in the month.

Now if you don't (or can't) take your kids out of school, then late July through mid-August is probably your best bet. Crowds are larger, but not at their very busiest. The weather is pretty hot, and it is the height of the rainy season, so that is why you might find crowds that rate a 4 out 5 on the busy scale, instead of a full 5.

I welcome your follow-up questions. Just ask me directly from my bio page.

    Have a magical vacation!
