Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question, Kirsten! I recently returned from my stay at
Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and I loved that it's a peaceful little retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of the Parks. The Imagineers set out to make Guests feel as if they've escaped to the Pacific Northwest, and that's not an easy task in the middle of Florida! Make sure to explore the grounds while you're there. Two of my favorite things are sitting in a rocking chair in front of the Grand Canyon Fireplace (and yes, there's always a fire roaring...even in summer) and seeing the Fire Rock Geyser erupt. It shoots water 120 feet in the air every hour on the hour from early morning to 10:00 PM!
Speaking of geysers,
Geyser Point Bar & Grill is situated along the water's edge of Bay Lake. It has lots of open-air seating with comfy chairs and couches and natural stone elements to match the rustic feeling of the resort. Some Guests describe this as a hybrid restaurant since it serves a dual purpose of being a lounge and a counter service location. When we ate there, most of us ordered off the lounge menu (I'm still dreaming about that Bison Cheeseburger and Huckleberry Punch I had), but our server happily brought my youngest son some chicken nuggets and fries from the counter service window. The best part about the lounge is that Guests can use their
Disney Dining Plan Quick-Service entitlements here, no matter which menu they order from. If you happen to be there in the evening, this is the perfect spot to watch the
Electrical Water Pageant which will float by the resort around 9:30 PM.
Have a magical trip, Kirsten!
