Hello there, Emma!
We're so glad you stopped by
planDisney with a question. I'd love to chat all things Lightning Lane so let's race on over to the most recently shared information.
July 24, 2024, marks the start of a new era for
Walt Disney World Resort itinerary planning.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass will replace Disney Genie+ Service and will offer guests the ability to purchase and pre-plan 3 eligible attraction return times per day for their length of admission (up to 14 days). Guest staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel will have access to planning 7 days prior to check-in, while off-site guests can get the fun started 3 days before their admission start date.
An added bonus is that off-site guests can purchase and pre-plan Lightning Lane Single Pass experiences according to the same timeline. Off-site guests currently have to wait until official park opening to purchase a la carte Individual Lightning Lane return times, while resort guests can purchase beginning at 7 a.m. The ability to review pricing, attraction return times, and schedule around dining reservations is going to be such a welcome change! Keep in mind that international guests will need to be on US soil to access this functionality within the My Disney Experience Mobile App.
It's my understanding that guests can pick and choose which days they'd like to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and/or Lightning Lane Single Pass and which party members to include. You won't be required to purchase for every ticketed day but can instead choose which days you'd most benefit from using this new and improved system. You should be able to include your mom in your plans as long as you're connected via your
Family & Friends list.
I haven't had the opportunity to test the new selection system just yet, but I'm really excited to see these changes launch. I think the ability to plan in advance will be a major benefit, especially since I'm usually the one in charge of the early wake-up and 7 a.m. selection process each day of our trips. It's my understanding that the
Virtual Queue process will still happen at 7 a.m. daily, but I'm looking forward to not having to focus on multiple planning decisions before my morning coffee.
Emma, I hope this clears up any confusion. If you have additional questions please come back and let us know, or reach out to a Cast Member for further assistance.
Wishing you a most magical visit this fall!
Amy
