chEARs Donna,
Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Phobias are real, and I completely understand your trepidation about any snake encounter at Walt Disney World. The most Magical Place on Earth would suddenly not be so magical for you, so hopefully, I can map out areas for you to avoid to enjoy your vacation!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park is my most favorite Park! The animals, entertainment, and food are amongst the best in all of Walt Disney World. That being said, there are animals, including snakes, in the theming. The central highlight of the Park is the
Tree of Life, a gorgeous tree that celebrates all living creatures, and there is a snake carved in amongst the other animals. If you stare long enough, you might see your dreaded reptile. But, you can easily pass by it without noticing.
Conservation Station in Rafiki’s Planet Watch has the only live snake as part of an attraction (a Cast Member brings out the resident python to show to Guests). But, depending on when you visit, it may still be closed for refurbishment (it will fully reopen this summer to celebrate 25 years of
The Lion King), and you can easily avoid it by not boarding the train to the attraction.
Donna, please remember that Florida is a tropical climate and because of the great weather, animals (much like people!) flock to Florida. The theme parks and resort properties have visible signage meant to keep you informed and safe, but there are native creatures that live on the property. But! If you follow the signage, your likelihood of encountering a snake in the wild is very low.
I hope this eases your concerns.
