    When purchasing an annual pass when does the pass take effect? Is it the day you purchase the pass or the day you activate it? And if I already have magic bands from a previous trip can I still use these or will they send me new ones?

    Hi Liesha!

    Are you thinking of purchasing an Annual Pass?  If you are I say jump right in!  I love my Annual Pass, not only do I get admission to the Most Magical Place on Earth; I also receive some great discounts on merchandise, tours, recreation and even Disney Resort hotel stays.  It is fantastic.

    If you purchase an Annual Pass the day it would go into effect would be the day you would activate your purchase at a Guest Relations window at any of the 4 theme parks, or at Disney Springs.  Please note that it is not the first day you enter a theme park with the Annual Pass, but rather the day you activate it. For example I could buy my pass online on February 6,  I could activate it at a Guest Relations window on February 28 but not enter a theme park until March 4.   My effective date would be the date I activated it, February 28.  

    As for your MagicBand you can use a MagicBand from a previous trip.  Please make sure the MagicBand is still listed as active in your My Disney Experience account.  You will also be able to get a new MagicBand  after you use your new Annual Pass to enter a theme park for the first time.  After your first visit with the new Annual Pass you will see an option on your My Disney Experience account to order a Passholder MagicBand.  You can customize a new MagicBand and have it shipped to your home.  Isn't that great?
