We purchased tickets and when we went to make reservations, the main park we wanted to go to was unavailable. Is there any way that the park may become available in the future or are all reservations set?

Hello, Natacha. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. Your trip to the most magical place on earth is right around the corner. I bet you are getting so excited!

The Walt Disney World Theme Park availability calendar does quite a bit of fluctuating. As Guests change parks for the day or cancel their vacation reservations altogether, the calendar does get updated to reflect this. Also, on occasion, Disney has opened up a bulk of reservations on days that have been previously sold out. To catch an opening at the Walt Disney World Theme Park you would really like to visit, I'd suggest checking the calendar multiple times throughout the day. I've had good luck at off times like really late at night or early in the morning.

If you aren't able to snag a park pass reservation for that park, you could always upgrade your tickets to include the park hopper option. Park hopping is when you can visit multiple Walt Disney World Theme Parks in one day. With your park hopper ticket, you'd be able to visit the park you have a park pass reservation for in the morning and then hop over to the other theme park that you don't have a park pass reservation for later in the day. It's really a great solution. Park hopping just returned to us at the start of this year and does look a little bit different than it did before. To park hop you must have valid theme park admission with the park hopper option. Then, you'll still need to make a park pass reservation for an initial theme park to visit each day. On that day, you will need to scan in and enter the theme park with the park pass reservation before continuing on to other parks throughout the day. It is not necessary to make additional park pass reservations to park hop - just the initial one each day. Park hopping now starts at 2:00 p.m. and lasts until each park closes in the evenings. To make park hopping a little bit easier, complimentary park-to-park bus transportation is currently being provided.

I love park hopping and think it is the best solution for you to be able to spend some time at the theme park you'd really like to visit. If park hopping doesn't interest you then just keep checking back. I have my fingers crossed for you that something on the calendar opens up between now and your trip. If you have any other questions please feel free to come back and ask me. I'm happy to help.

    Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
