    just purchased a magic key pass today but we have a previous reservation for this week that we purchased separately can i use my pass for discounts for this reservation?

    Hi there, Jennifer, and welcome to planDisney!

    First of all, congratulations on getting a Magic Key Pass for yourself! We were all excited to hear that Magic Key sales would be resuming this week and it sounds like there are many happy Guests just waiting to activate their Passes and visit the Parks.

    There are a couple of things to consider for your upcoming visit, Jennifer. For a new Magic Key Pass, you will have one year from the date of purchase to activate that Pass by using it for your first admission to Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure. Ordinarily, Magic Key discounts are valid even on blockout dates (except for parking) and days when you've used a standard theme park ticket to enter the Parks. However, a Magic Key Pass must first be activated in order to take advantage of these discounts. So for your upcoming visit, your options include:

    1. Activating your Magic Key Pass by using it for your admission, thereby enabling the discounts during your visit. You can then save the standard Theme Park Ticket for another time (e.g., a blockout date) or gift it to someone else.
    2. Use your already purchased Theme Park Ticket for this upcoming trip and saving your Magic Key Pass to activate later. If you aren't planning on visiting again for a while, this might make more sense because your Magic Key expires one year after activation.

    If you opt to use your Magic Key Pass, you'll need to make another set of reservations for your trip. You'll have to decide what works best for you in this situation. If you're planning on making some large purchases over this trip, that discount will come in very handy!
