I've purchased a Magic Key but not yet activated it. I'm trying to purchase a Magic Band 2.0 from the store but am unable to do so, and am receiving a prompt message indicating that I need an active Key to do so.

Hi there, Robert, and welcome to planDisney!

Congratulations on getting your hands on a shiny new Magic Key Pass! It took quite a bit of pixie dust and patience to get through that online queue and I commend you for seeing it through to the end.

From your question, it sounds like you were attempting to purchase a MagicBand+ from shopdisney.com. They've got a wide selection of Bands from which to choose and there's something for every taste. Just be sure that you're purchasing a MagicBand+ because that's the only type supported by the Disneyland Resort at this time. Most of the various MagicBands that are for sale may be purchased by anyone, but I suspect that you were attempting to purchase a Band that was specifically for Magic Key Holders. Make sure that you are logged into your Disney account before placing the item in your cart. If you are still unable to buy it, then unfortunately the system won't recognize you as a Magic Key Holder until you activate your Pass. You could either purchase another Band that is available to the general public or try to purchase the Key Holder Band again after activating your Pass.

As a tech geek, I was thrilled when the Disney Parks Blog announced that the Disneyland Resort would be supporting MagicBand+! Keep in mind that it can only be linked to one account and one ticket at a time. For an added surprise, try wearing it when you approach the ride vehicle for WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure and during nighttime spectaculars!

Fun Fact: If you try your hand at web slinging for a high score on WEB SLINGERS, aim for the colored and gold spiders which are worth more points. And pay attention to environmental objects to catch with your webs because they'll often chain together multiple hits and get you lots of points!
For instance, aim at the lasers on the sides of the last scene.

Robert, I hope that this was helpful for you and that you are able to purchase the MagicBand+ that you desire! I find them very handy and don't go to the Parks without mine anymore. If you have anything else you'd like to ask us, please feel free to visit again. We'd love to hear from you in the future.

Wishing You a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow!

Meet the Panelist: Al, California

Ahoy there from the heart of Steinbeck Country in central California! I've been visiting the Disneyland Resort since childhood and fell in love with the sense of absolute immersion that the Imagineers have achieved. My favorite attraction is Pirates of the Caribbean because where else can you go from a California day to an evening boat ride in the bayou with "salty old pirates"? I'm a veterinarian and an all-around Disney geek and enthusiast. I'd love to help you plan your next Disneyland trip! Learn More About Al
