I purchased my grandson's PAP March 2014. He and my daughter will be traveling to WDW in April 2015. I will not be traveling with them. How can I affect my grandson's renewal without my presence? Also, is it possible to renew a PAP as an AP ?

    Hi Debra!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! My family loves being Walt Disney World Annual Passholders. It’s a great way to make the most of our vacation budget. We like to schedule two trips within a one year period of time in order to make the most of our passes.

If your grandson currently has a Walt Disney World Premium Annual Pass, it is possible to renew it as a standard Walt Disney World Annual Pass. In terms of helping your grandson get his pass things get a little more complicated. If it is a regular, non-discounted Annual Pass, you could simply purchase him a Disney Gift Card to cover the amount or perhaps write your daughter a check to cover the cost.

If you were looking to purchase him an Annual Pass with a Disney Vacation Club Membership discount, things would be a little different. The discount on Annual Passes for Disney Vacation Club Members is limited to Disney Vacation Club Members and members of their immediate household who reside in the same residence. A Disney Vacation Club Member must be present with a valid Disney Vacation Club Membership Card and Photo ID at the time of activation of the Annual Pass at Guest Relations in order to receive the discount. I am not aware of any way to renew with the discount without the actual Member being present. If your grandson indeed resides with you, I would recommend calling Member Services at the number on the back of your Membership Card to see if there are any other options I am not aware of.

I hope your daughter and grandson have a magical and fun filled vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort. Let me know if there are any additional questions I can help you or them with as they plan their upcoming trip!
